May 20-22, the 4th International CEO and Social Sciences Congress (CEOSSC) took place at Alfred Nobel University. 209 participants from 32 countries met to contribute to the study of humanitarian issues, develop and analyze possible scenarios, and strengthen the capacity of science and research to identify the best possible peacemaking responses to the challenges of the 21st century.
Rector Sergii Kholod expressed his gratitude to the co-presidents of the 4th International Social Science Congress - Prof.Dr. Farhod Ahrorov, Prof.Dr. Prabhat Kumar Singh and Congress coordinator Kerim Karadal.
In his speech, Sergii Kholod noted the importance of holding this Congress at the University in Ukraine, in Dnipro right now – during the undisguised russian military aggression.
It is very important to hold the 4th International CEO and Social Sciences Congress (CEOSSC) in Ukraine right now, when my country is under russian military aggression, 20% of the territory is burned to the ground and the economy is completely destroyed. This is a gross violation of the laws of nations as defined in the United Nations, which also condemned all violations of international humanitarian law as adopted in the Geneva Convention. A UN General Assembly resolution requires the complete withdrawal of russian troops, the International Court of Justice ordered russia to stop its military aggression, and the Council of Europe expelled russia from the organization. The International Criminal Court began investigating the war crimes that occurred in Ukraine, crimes against humanity and genocide during the invasion of 2022. As a consequence, what happened? Did it bring the war to an end? Did it save human lives? You know the answer! And the answer is NO! Everyone can see the atrocities of the russians in Bucha, Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Irpin, Kharkiv, Severodonetsk and many other places they managed to reach. But my people and my nation stand and fight! We have all turned into warriors or volunteers, all of us on the battlefield for our Victory to be closer! Alfred Nobel University is the largest refugee center in the region, and we help hundreds of people who have fled bombing and shelling by providing them with shelter and psychological support. It is very important for the academic community not to tolerate atrocities and to unanimously oppose aggression!
