On April 22-23, 2024, the 36th International Conference for Young Scientists and Students «Transformation of Economic Systems and Institutions in the New Geostrategic Realities» took place at Alfred Nobel University. The conference was organized by the Department of Global Economics with co-financing from the European Union as part of the implementation of the international project «Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module ‘Highlighting the New European Security Architecture in Teaching and Research’ No. 101126795 – EuSANU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH.
The desire of young people for creative exploration and exchange of ideas could not have been stopped even by the war. This conference turned out to be the most large-scale one in the history of such events.
Firstly, the number of countries represented by participants has increased. Especially active were scientists from Ukraine, Poland, Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Norway and Moldova.
Secondly, the representation of Ukrainian universities has expanded. Among the participants there were young researchers from Dnipro, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Izmail, etc.
Thirdly, most participants presented not only short abstracts but full-fledged reports, attempting to present their ideas on contemporary world events and their theoretical understanding to the scientific audience.
The total volume of materials issued before the start of the conference is more than 1200 pages in three volumes.
During the conference, a plenary session and two panel discussions were organized, during which Ukrainian and foreign speakers shared their ideas on the current changes in global and national economies, their trends and possible consequences. Special attention was given to the prospects of post-war reconstruction in Ukraine and new challenges on the way to the EU and NATO.
The round table discussion «New architecture of European security in modern geostrategic realities» attracted the special interest of the participants. Not only young scientists, but also well-known scholars, doctors of science, professors, as well as representatives of Ukrainian and European public and government bodies contributed their materials to this event. Such a combination produced a synergistic effect.
The conference has again demonstrated the necessity of communication and the exchange of ideas, which are the driving force of scientific progress. Most participants expressed their desire to meet at the 37th Conference scheduled for November 2024. We hope that it will take place in a peaceful Ukraine!
